These photos were taken the junction of Colorado Routes 14 and 40 and on the Rabbit Ears Pass Trial along Route 40. Both locations are above the Poudre Valley, between Fort Collins and Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Southern Wyoming was in full bloom as well.
Even though there is a breath-taking riot of flowers, the flowering season has not peaked. There are many plants still getting ready to flower
, their buds not even showing color. In particular, the fireweed has not yet bloomed (green shoots in the photo below).Which isn't to say the current display isn't gorgeous and dramatic. An ever-changing tapestry of color.
This could be you, walking amid the flowers!
