Banksia marginata (Proteaceae)
The silver Banksia, Banksia marginata (Proteaceae), ACT, 2016. I went to Tidbinbilla with friends today, and this cone was the only one we saw in flower; really it is not the season.
I think this may also be the only Banksia in the Canberra area. If one wants to see more one would have to drive towards the coast.
